Lee's Ghee Plain Jane


A classic cultured ghee handcrafted for everyday use. Plain Jane is ideal to use as a cooking fat in place of olive oil or butter for high temperature cooking because it is very stable and doesn’t burn or change its structure up to very high temperatures (230 °C). Because of the bacterial cultures present in the cultured, organic butter we use to make our ghee, this ghee will change flavor over time.

Shelf life: One Year

Aged: 2 Weeks

Ingredient: Certified Organic Cultured Butter

Size: 100g or 200g

Lee's Ghee is hand crafted in small batches using unsalted, organic, cultured butter as a base for all of our flavours. Cultured ghee is marginally healthier than regular ghee and the bacterial cultures present in the ghee improve the flavour over time, much like a good wine or cheese. The culturing process stops when ghee is refrigerated, so you have the option of letting it age unrefrigerated or keeping it in the fridge for a sweeter taste.

Our butter is sourced locally in Ontario from Organic Meadow. Our butter is Certified Organic, so the cows must eat primarily grass.  Throughout the warm months this is more obvious since they are on pasture between approximately April and November eating what they graze. During the winter months, the cows eat primarily grass that the farmers collect during harvest and store.
